The role: 

As a Frontend Engineering Intern you will build highly performant backend services to integrate seamlessly with our data stores, message queues, mobile and web platforms, and other systems. You’ll be working on a small, multi-functional team that may include other engineers, product manager, data scientist and other roles. Success in this role requires the ability to take on challenging problems ast scale and build amazing solutions with the mentorship of an experienced team member.

In Your Tool Bag:

  • A knack for creative problem solving and innovation - you aren’t afraid to explore novel approaches outside of the status quo
  • Solid foundation of fundamental or object oriented programming skills
  • Passion for tackling challenging and ambiguous problems in a fast-paced environment
  • A builder at heart - you love the challenge of building complex web apps complemented by an elegant, modern, and intuitive UI
  • Ability to effectively communicate across a variety of technical and nontechnical audiences 
  • Desire to grow your software engineering skills through collaboration, open communication, direct feedback and knowledge sharing 

You have experience with: 

  • HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and/or TypeScript, 
  • Frontend frameworks (React, Angular, Svelte)
  • Building web applications in a classroom setting or hands-on environment (e.g. prior work experience, side projects, or coding competitions)

Bonus points: 

  • You have experience building responsive web designs from a project or prior internship 
  • Experience with test writing and quality assurance methodologies
  • Experience collaborating cross-functionally with backend and mobile engineers, product designers, product managers, data scientists, et al. 

Program Eligibility: 

  • In the process of obtaining a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science or related technical field
  • Currently enrolled in a full-time, degree-seeking program at an an accredited university with the intent to return to the degree program upon completion of the internship
  • Ability to work full-time (40 hrs/ week) from May 25, 2025 to August 9, 2025 in either the Madison, WI or Birmingham, AL office without relocation or housing assistance

Fetch software engineering internships pay $40/ hour. Please note: pay is not negotiable.
